Our Services
Our dedication to our patients and our community is what sets us apart here at Robson Family Dentistry. Located in Bellefontaine, OH, our team is proud to work with families in the surrounding areas, providing a variety of dental treatments for patients of all ages, from kids to geriatrics. We are a patient-centered practice, meaning we work with each individual patient, determining your dental needs and goals and providing the corresponding services. We offer general and restorative services as well as teeth whitening!
Even if you have a thorough oral hygiene routine, it is still necessary to visit the dentist twice a year for an exam and a dental cleaning. During these visits, we not only remove plaque, tartar and food build-up from the teeth and gums, but we also thoroughly examine the state of your dental and oral health. We check for any signs of developing decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. Catching these issues as early as possible allows us to begin treatment quicker, thus providing higher chances for success. Our hygienists are also able to make recommendations to you on how you can better your at-home dental care, so you can have a healthy smile for a lifetime!
Digital x-rays, or radiography, are an important diagnostic tool at our practice. They allow us to catch developing dental health issues, such as growths or decay that cannot be viewed during a visual exam. Digital x-rays expose the patient to a significantly lowered amount of radiation as compared to a traditional x-ray, and we are able to view the images instantaneously, rather than having to wait for a traditional x-ray to develop. We view these digital images on a computer monitor. We are able to easily store the images or share them with a specialist or insurance company if needed.
After the removal of a small cavity, our doctors will provide a filling. We offer both silver amalgam and tooth-colored composite fillings. Silver amalgam fillings are more noticeable in the smile, but they are less expensive and more durable. A tooth-colored filling blends in with the smile and helps maintain the original structure of the tooth, but it is not the best option for larger cavities. Our team will work with you to determine which filling option will be most beneficial for you.
If a tooth is too extensively decayed for a filling, or it is broken due to trauma, we can provide a crown. A crown is a tooth-colored cap that is placed over the tooth, to restore both its aesthetics and its function. Each of our crowns are custom-created to blend in seamlessly with your smile.
If you have a gap in your smile, a bridge is a device we offer that can be used to fill in the gap. Leaving a gap in your smile can not only affect the appearance of your smile, but it also can hamper your ability to chew and speak properly. In addition, it leaves your gums susceptible to disease, your jaw bone vulnerable to deterioration, and may cause the rest of your teeth to shift. A bridge consists of two crowns that are placed on the teeth on either side of the gap, and these crowns are connected to an abutment that functions as a replacement tooth.
If your tooth’s infection has reached its root, we will perform a root canal. At Robson Family Dentistry, we are proud to provide same-day rotary root canals. During a root canal, we remove the infected pulp from the tooth, disinfect the tooth to eliminate the remaining bacteria and fill in the tooth. However, we use rotary technology to perform root canals, which means we use electric devices that flexibly and precisely remove bacteria and decay. This reduces the risk of damage to surrounding tooth structures, as well as provides a more comfortable experience for the patient.
If you have a tooth that is severely decayed or broken beyond saving via a crown, an extraction is the best option. During an extraction, we will remove both the tooth and the root, striving to create as comfortable of an experience as possible. After the procedure, we will discuss your options for tooth replacement, which include dentures and partials, a bridge, or a referral for a dental implant placement.
Whether you have one missing tooth or a whole row of missing teeth, we can provide dentures or partials to restore the aesthetic appearance and function of your smile. Before creating your dentures, we take careful, precise measurements of your mouth, jaw and face, so that we can ensure your dentures fit comfortably in your mouth and allow you to chew and speak properly. Our dentures will help you feel confident in your smile again!
If you are feeling self-conscious of your smile because of the shade of your teeth, ask us about trying our teeth whitening program! We will custom-create trays to fit your lower and upper rows of teeth and provide you with a carbamide peroxide gel with which to fill the trays. We recommend that you wear the gel-filled trays for 30 minutes once or twice a day. For best results, continue this regimen for three or four weeks. This system is much more effective than any over-the-counter whitening gels or strips!
If you have received a dental implant, our doctors can provide the implant restoration. This involves creating a crown that is placed over the titanium post, to restore the function, strength and appearance of the tooth. After the restoration is complete, your implant will look just like a real tooth.
At our practice, we sell electric toothbrushes for both adults and children. We find that electric toothbrushes provide the most thorough dental cleaning and decrease the risk of developing decay and gum disease.
